What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular services at Impact. Thanks to advances in noninvasive laser technology, this treatment can remove unwanted hair quickly and effectively. Most patients see significant results in just a few sessions!
How Laser Hair Removal Works
During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage inhibits future hair growth.

What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

Any area of the body can be treated. The most popular areas that clients seek treatment for are the legs, Brazilian, underarms, backs and face.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser hair removal is a very tolerable procedure with minor discomfort.
The most common sensation felt during the procedure is a small pinch, like a rubber band is being snapped against your skin. The feeling only lasts a few seconds and generally stops when the laser does. The Bare 808 laser uses integrated cooling technology to help alleviate the skin with each energy pulse.

Are there any side effects to laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is an extremely safe procedure with limited side effects. This light-based procedure is noninvasive and uses light energy to safely travel through the skin without harming any surrounding skin tissue. The most common side effects patients may experience are temporary redness, itchiness, and swelling of the skin. These side effects should subside within a couple of hours following treatment. For more delicate areas, we apply a topical post treatment cream to soothe the skin
and provide additional comfort.

How many hair removal treatments will I need?

For permanent hair reduction, patients will need approximately 6 to 10 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Facial areas are treated 4 weeks apart, whereas, the body treatment areas are to be treated 6-8 weeks apart. This waiting period is necessary to target the hair follicles
during their active growth stage. Your technician will recommend a treatment plan that is most suitable.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Lasers will permanently reduce the amount of hair growth. Some areas of the body will experience permanent removal of hair while other areas may need some maintenance from time to time. After each visit, hair growth will be further reduced and you will require fewer sessions.

How to prepare you for your upcoming laser treatment:
Avoid waxing, tweezing, threading, or chemical epilation for 6 weeks of the area your wish to have treated prior to treatment. Avoid sun exposure or self-tanning for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Discontinue alpha and beta hydroxy (AHA/BHA) products, hydroquinone, retinols/retinoids, and salicylic acid in treatment area at least 3 days prior to treatment.
Some medications, including many antibiotics, can increase your sensitivity to the heat and light of the laser. Please disclose all medications to your laser technician so safety can be established. Medications that are photosensitive may necessitate rescheduling.
Avoid Botox, dermal fillers, Microneedling treatments or any skin resurfacing procedures in the same treatment area for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Ensure 6 months from last Accutane treatment.
The treatment area must be clean-shaven 12-24 hours prior to treatment. Unshaven clients will be charged a shaving fee of $25.
